VERITY

Verity’s been behind the decks for 18 years. He has a mad passion and love for the Oldskool Techno, Breakbeat and Jungle sounds of the early 90’s and evolved into Drum & Bass as well as a wide variety of other electronic music genres. Collecting as many mixtapes as he could get his hands on, he eventually graduated to vinyl and DJ’ing in the mid 90’s. He’s inspired by the original sounds of L.A. DJ’s such as R.A.W., DJ Trance and Ron D Core. He’s played a variety of shows and clubs but also spent quite a bit of time doing intimate outdoor renegade sessions with his close friends who shared the same passion and joy of just getting outdoors, and playing music, LOUD!

RotPG – Guillermo Arce 08/14/2015

Guillermo Arce

Guillermo Arce started djing in 2007. The whole reason why Guillermo Arce got turntables was so that he could become a hip hop/scratch. But that didn’t work out because he couldn’t get into it. A year later after he almost called it quits & started working at Paul Frank under Juan Mendes who introduced him to house, industrial and techno music. Guillermo Arce started going to record shows with my coworkers to start a vinyl collection. His collection grew after 2 years of nonstop buying records but didn’t know how to mix. YouTube was new at the time and it was going to be the future so he decided look up how to mix vinyl tutorials and after a few days & got it down. His friend Dan Sena from Dim Mak records asked him to start a night at Detroit bar in Costa Mesa with him. Saying it’ll be fun! We get paid! We get to dj and we drink for free!
Guillermo Arce almost didn’t do it because he doesn’t drink and rather just play at home by myself. But I am so glad I decided to do it because I have meet a lot of fun interesting people & play at big places and have opened up for big acts like Major Lazer, Crystal Castles, Datarock, Peter Hook of Joy Division / New Order, Afrika Bambaataa, Skrillex, The Presets, Flosstradamus, Arabian Prince, Steve Aoki, Cut Chemist, Wolfgang Gartner, Mstrkrft and the list goes on…

RotPG – Floppy Disco 07/31/2015

Floppy Disco

Floppy Disco
——–
At the tender age of ten, Floppy Disco started collecting music. He grew up on a healthy diet of KISS and DEVO. Not long after, with the help of a Radio Shack broadcasting radio kit, Floppy Disco hosted his first radio show live from his bedroom to his friends outside listening on a boombox. Fifteen odd years later, Floppy Disco (then as Jiffy Loop) hosted a show in the late 90s right here at KUCI called Trance Ranch. To this day, he still has a love for music from the 70s and 80s.
This summer Floppy Disco has returned to KUCI after a 16 year hiatus co-hosting OMAKASE, a live DJ mix show Mondaymornings from 6-8 AM, playing classic electronic dance music from the 70s – 80s ranging from space rock, cosmic disco to new wave and electro.
